Burn Ban in Kitsap County

Kitsap County Fire Marshal Announces Stage 1 Burn Ban in Kitsap County

A Stage 1 ban on outdoor burning goes into effect at 8 a.m. on Friday August 19 for all of unincorporated Kitsap County.  Stage 1 prohibitions will remain in place until the rains start this fall,”.  “The recent warm weather of the last two weeks has contributed to drying available fuels and weather trends indicate warm temperatures with low humidity for the immediate future,”

A stage 1 burning ban does not limit recreational fires in approved appliances and locations. Individual campgrounds and campsites may limit recreational fire. Campers are encouraged to contact the campground hosts for more information.

During a Stage 1 burn ban:

  • All non recreational outdoor burning is prohibited
  • No additional burning permits are issued
  • Existing permits are rescinded until the ban is lifted

To find out the current burn ban status call 1.800.323.BURN (2876). More information about burn bans is available at http://www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/fire/docs/fm-burnban.htm.
