CHIEF John Oliver

Fire Chief

John Oliver became the Fire Chief of Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue on December 19, 2018.  He formerly served as the Deputy Chief of the department, hired in November 2015 after a nationwide search for the vacant Deputy Chief position.

John’s fire service career began in 1984 where he ultimately retired from the second largest Fire District in the State of Oregon–Clackamas Fire District #1.  Throughout his 31 years in the Oregon Fire Service, he held almost every rank and retired in 2015 to start his second career here at Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

His professional accolades are numerous, including many State, Regional and National awards of excellence.  He champions higher education in the Fire Service and possesses an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration.  He is an active member of civic groups including the Rotary Club of Silverdale and the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce.

John is a proud grandfather, and in his free time, he enjoys fishing and boating with his family. He and his wife, Kathy reside in Poulsbo.
