Working Smoke Alarms Help Save Lives - Don't Stay Home Without Them!!
Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue

Why become a Volunteer for Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue? Because we need you!

The service the fire department provides to our community continues to grow, yet the number of personnel to respond to emergencies has decreased. The traditional role of a firefighter has dramatically changed over the years, and we are changing to meet the new needs.

This is where your help is greatly desired, and needed. In the old days, the only time we responded was for a fire or rescue; now we respond to everything from life safety emergencies to helping install smoke alarms in homes. The fire service has always been part of the community, and a great source of pride to its citizens. To maintain the services that you the citizens desire, and to provide the most cost efficient operations that we all demand of our public officials, we need support in the form of volunteers.

We have various positions available from historians, public educators, administration assistants, EMS (Emergency Medical Services) only, to tender operators and structural firefighters. You can contact us anytime and we will provide you with more information: call 447-3550.

Our greatest need, as always, is structural firefighters, especially in the western area of the District. This involves all of the area west of Seabeck Highway. Some ask how volunteering is beneficial to the individual, and the answer is easy. It is a great way to support your community, to potentially learn a new career, and to help others.

It can also help you pay less for your home insurance. Did you know that one of the items your home insurance is based on is how far you live from a fire station? If it is a volunteer station, it needs to be staffed by at least six members. Volunteering to be a firefighter could actually help you and your neighbors save money on home insurance.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue is a great department, and proud of the service that we provide to our community. Please help us help you, by becoming a member of your Fire Department.
