Organization of Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue
CKFR serves a population of more than 72,000 residents within a 115 square mile region and responds to fire and emergency calls from 12 stations. For more information regarding our department, please see Fire Stations.

CKFR is made up of the following three divisions:

Administrative

Board of Fire Commissioners: Elected community members who live within the boundaries of our fire district are charged with carrying out the governance of the fire district.

Fire Chief: Recommends and participates in the formation of new policies with the Board of Commissioners. Exercises full supervision over all administrative areas and general supervision over operations and personnel.

Administrative/Information Services Manager: Provides for the business operations of the fire district, manages the information services, and supervises the administrative support personnel.

Fiscal/Human Resources Manager: Provides and supervises all financial needs related to the management and operations of the district, internal controls, and human resource functions. Serves as investment and auditing officer.

Administrative Support: Clerical support personnel.

Support Services

Headed by the Assistant Chief of Support Services, whose responsibilities include coordinating and managing the personnel, equipment and activities associated with the following departments:

Vehicle Maintenance - headed by a vehicle maintenance supervisor, this department does repair and preventive work on all the fire district's vehicles.

Facilities/Grounds Maintenance - schedules and provides routine prevention maintenance, repair work and ground maintenance to 12 fire stations.

Inventory/Supplies Coordinator - performs and oversees assigned areas dealing with the purchase, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of departmental equipment and supplies.

Operations

Headed by the Assistant Chief of Operations, whose responsibilities include coordinating and managing the personnel, equipment and activities associated with the following departments:

Medical - run by a Battalion Chief who manages and implements the medical services and Chaplain programs within the fire district.

Training - run by a Division Chief who manages and coordinates the day by day training functions of the fire district.

Emergency Services - run by 3 Shift Battalion Chiefs, whose responsibilities include standardization, coordination, preparedness, and response of emergency services

Volunteers - supervised by 2 Battalion Chiefs, who oversee the volunteer program within the fire district.

Public Safety Division

Headed by the Division Chief of Public Safety

Public Safety Division - This division includes fire prevention, public education, and public information.

The 2008 CKFR budget is $14,559,847.

Estimated Assessed Valuation:
The 2006 assessed valuation (AV) is $6.1 billion with growth for 2007 projected by the Kitsap County Assessor's Office at 18.3% for an assessed valuation in 2007 of $7.2 billion.
