Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue

Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation

Board members serving on this non-profit foundation are: Dr. Mark Eisenberg, Ms. Sandra Stewart, retired Fire Chief Richard West, former CKFR Board Commissioner Ted Anderson, and Dr. Helen Butler.

2007 was a busy year spent mostly on 'administrative' tasks: updating our By-Laws and re-designing our brochures.

The purpose of the Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation, founded in 1996, is to provide supplemental support for the emergency medical service (EMS) activities performed by CKFR for the citizens of the Central Kitsap area. Primary funding for EMS is provided by property taxes, however budgets just don't stretch far enough these days. The Foundation provides for needs and wants that would otherwise be unmet in the CKFR budget.

Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation receives funds through tax-free donations from individual community members and businesses. Donations are tax deductible*, as Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation is a registered non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization with the IRS.

Donated funds have been used to provide CKFR with needed medical items such as:

  • Advanced model stethoscopes for each paramedics use
  • 3 medical reference libraries
  • Bikes and equipment for CKFR medical Bike Team
  • Marine depth finder, rescue suits, VHF radio & antenna for the rescue boat
  • Donation to Harrison Foundation towards the construction of the Silverdale Helipad primarily used by Air Lift Northwest
  • Advanced model laryngoscope blades used to insert a tube to help a patient breathe

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, through your tax dollars, provides excellent service to the citizens of Kitsap County...the Foundation's gifts fortify and strengthen the system. We thank all those who have donated during 2007 through obituary memorials, special occasion remembrances (birthday, anniversary, etc.) or "just because". Special thanks to Shelly Young of Simple Organizing Solutions, who along with her kids & their friends, hosted a car wash – donating the $250 proceeds to the Foundation!

Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation works collaboratively with CKFR to identify and prioritize medical equipment and resources that the Foundation may be able to provide to enhance services to residents in the Central Kitsap area. This "wish list" is updated periodically.

For information regarding how to donate to the foundation, please call the Central Kitsap Medic One Foundation through CKFR's main desk at 360.447.3550 or email mediconefoundation@CKFR.org.
